A good event feels relaxed, and that takes planning. Guests should walk in easily, enjoy themselves, and leave without ever thinking about security. That's the standard we work to at GOLDNBEAR SECURITY, a veteran-owned private security company headquartered at 811 W 7th St in Downtown Los Angeles, with offices in Santa Monica and Downey. We've been serving Los Angeles since 2004. We've been licensed by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services since 2018 (PPO 120234), we're bonded and insured, and our approach is prevention-first security. Psychology, not intimidation.
Why "psychology, not intimidation" matters at events
Events bring together people who don't know each other, alcohol, crowded spaces, and tight schedules. The usual response is to add bigger, louder guards. In our experience that often raises the temperature. We'd rather have officers who read a room: who notice the guest getting agitated at the bar, the person hanging around a side door, the group that keeps drifting toward the green room. Then they step in early, with a friendly word, a redirection, or a quiet conversation away from the crowd.
Most problems at events show warning signs first. Our officers are trained to see them and deal with them before they turn into a scene.

What our event security includes
Every event is different, so we build the plan around yours. Depending on what you need, that can include:
- Entry and access control: guest list and credential checks, bag checks where appropriate, and a calm, welcoming front door
- Crowd flow: positioning at choke points, exits, bars, and stages so lines stay orderly and exits stay clear
- VIP and talent areas: controlling access to backstage, green rooms, and private spaces
- Parking and perimeter: watching arrivals, departures, and the areas guests don't see
- Undercover officers: plain-clothes officers who blend in with guests for a low-profile presence
- Armed or unarmed officers: we recommend the lowest level of force that fits your event
- Executive protection: close protection for a specific person attending
Los Angeles and Santa Monica
We work events across Los Angeles, including Downtown, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Culver City, and on the Westside from our Santa Monica office. Santa Monica events often mean outdoor spaces, busy foot traffic, and venues close to public areas. Plans there focus heavily on perimeter awareness and keeping entrances calm.
How we plan an event
- Free quote and consultation. Tell us the date, venue, guest count, and anything that worries you.
- Venue walk-through. We look at entrances, exits, sight lines, parking, and where people will gather.
- A written plan. Staffing, posts, and briefing notes for each officer, including who is allowed where and how to handle common situations.
- On the day. Officers arrive briefed, check in with your point of contact, and stay focused on prevention.
- Afterward. A debrief with you on anything that happened and what to adjust next time.
Working with your venue, planner, and vendors
Event security works best when it's part of the event, not bolted on. We coordinate with your planner, venue manager, caterers, and production crew ahead of time so everyone knows where the officers will be, who to call, and how deliveries, load-in, and late arrivals will be handled. Our officers treat your guests as guests: polite at the door, helpful with directions, and firm only when they need to be.
What to have ready when you call
- Date, start and end times, and the venue address
- Expected guest count and the type of crowd
- Whether alcohol will be served
- Any VIPs, performers, or guests who need extra attention
- Anything that has gone wrong at past events
Hiring event security in California: what to check
Any company providing guards in California must hold a BSIS Private Patrol Operator license, and each guard needs a BSIS guard registration. Armed guards also need a BSIS exposed firearm permit. You can verify a company's license at search.dca.ca.gov. Ours is PPO 120234.
